Painting in Beautiful Glandore
Last week, we spent a glorious ‘staycation’ week in Ireland in beautiful Glandore in west Cork. It was fantastic to get away and do a bit of sightseeing – and there sure is a lot to look at. I brought my oils and acrylics paints with me. To be honest, for landscape painting, you could stay in Glandore the whole week and never run out of subjects to paint. Above, I took my easel about 20 yards from the cottage that we rented to set up my easel on the pier.
We made several excursions around the locality; Clonakilty, Baltimore, Castletownsend, Skibbereen and everywhere you look, there’s a scene worth an en plein air painting session. The weather mostly held out! I managed to get four paintings in during the week. Incidentally, there’s a perfectly adequate art supplies outlet in The Skibbereen Bookshop, plus, there’s always Cork Art Supplies who deliver very quickly. You can see the results below.
