En Plein Air Painting Day in Birr
I was honoured to be invited to give a talk on my work in the lovely Birr Theatre and Arts Centre in County Offaly. Luckily, I have no problem talking on a subject that I love so much – me.
I themed the talk, “Turning Points”. When I look back on my careers (and that includes school), I can identify moments when either fate or friends took a hand and helped me turn various corners.
In the afternoon, I took a group of painters out into the town park and we painted with the river Camcor flowing beside us. Take a look at the gallery below and you’ll see. The rain held off all afternoon. The group had the good fortune to see my painting fly off the easel and straight into the river. I had to head the artwork off at the weir and wade in to retrieve it. They’ll remember that! Fortunately, there was no lasting impact on the painting and I did get it finished.
So thank you to Hazel who invited me, Gildas, Emma and all the lovely painters who accompanied me on the outing. I hope to see you again sometime soon.
