The April landscape painting retreat was a great success. We were blessed with the weather – especially on the full day of painting on Saturday. The sun shone while we painted at the beautiful Port Oriel.
Everybody did a power of work as you can see from the photographs. We warmed up on Friday afternoon by painting in the grounds of An Grianán. For a short while, we were treated to a snow shower while we painted; but after 5 minutes the sun re-emerged to warm us. We painted the boats at Port Oriel as I’ve already said, we spent the afternoon at Termonfeckin Castle – a new venue for me as I hadn’t even heard of it before now. On Saturday evening while we talked and relaxed over drinks in the splendid drawing room of the old house, we decided on the spur of the moment to hire a model for Sunday’s exercise. So Sunday morning was spent painting a portrait.
It’s just such a joy to spend time with like-minded, interested and interesting people to share a common interest, spend time in the healthy open air in the welcoming surroundings of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association headquarters.
If you missed this painting retreat, you still have the chance of attending September’s weekend landscape painting retreat (2nd-4th September). Go to this link to read more and book to secure your place. There are only 8 places remaining as I write this.
