Art classes in Dublin start again…

Summer is almost over and the glorious weather will soon change to autumnal winds and rain. On the positive side, though, my popular and convivial art classes will be restarting in early September.

As usual, there will be morning classes which concentrate on learning the basics – getting the process down and becoming familiar with the materials. They’re based on painting a complete small painting from life in one sitting. The process is called, ‘alla prima’ or wet into wet. It’s the best way to ‘learn how to paint’. You can book your place here for either morning.

Now, I’ve introduced a new, different class on Wednesday evenings: ‘Long-form’ painting. You take a painting project over multiple weeks using any medium and from any kind of reference. The idea is to work on the ideas and narrative element of your work. In that sense, it’s more advanced and would suit those who are already familiar with the process. We’ll work on how to think like an artist. You can read more and book at this link.

Either way, these classes are a lot of fun – and there’s nothing to stop you working on long-form paintings if you want. Many do once they’ve nailed down the process. They’re relaxing and a great way to meet like-minded people. Everyone is supportive as we’re all on a similar journey which never ends when it’s done right!

So join me. If you can’t get a place on this occasion as places fill up fast, you can put yourself on the waiting list or join my mailing list. Also, if you have any suggestions for new art events, do tell me – I’m always interested to hear them.

Looking forward to seeing you.
