August Painting at An Grianán

Thank you to all who attended last weekend’s en plein air painting weekend with me in An Grianán, home of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association. Thanks also to the staff there for hosting this event. Once again I enjoyed it immensely – and the feedback has been tremendous.

I have to say, I learned a lot from teaching everyone as I always do. This time, we ventured out of the beautiful campus to paint in Termonfeckin itself and then at Port Oriel in Clogherhead. We were lucky with the weather, too. We caught a couple of showers but had plenty of sunshine to paint in.  We met colourful characters and interested passers-by who stopped to chat.

[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”8″ display=”basic_thumbnail”]I’m so looking forward to making another trip to An Grianán. The staff are so friendly and obliging and the food is plentiful and delicious. Maybe, since the duller weather is approaching, an indoor weekend workshop might be worth considering…portraiture, still lifes and working with imitation gold leaf to bring a little sunshine back? Drop me an email if you’d like that – or have any suggestions.

Meanwhile, art classes in my studio are starting again next week. There are still a couple of places on Wednesday morning if you want to venture into the world of painting in a genuine artist’s studio. There’s always fresh coffee and biscuits to keep you going – and I do a demonstration painting at every class.

Paint small; paint oils; paint often!
