2024 Weekend Painting Retreat in Ireland

All rooms are SINGLE to allow for social distancing and comfort at the April 2023 Landscape Painting Weekend.

APRIL 14 – 16. Landscape Painting Weekend. €375

Come and join me at the April Landscape Painting Weekend. Set in the beautiful rolling hills of the Boyne Valley and home of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association, An Grianán is a glorious 18th century house that has been transformed into a cultural and educational centre.

Get away from it all in a beautiful part of Ireland while practicing your painting skills. It’s a perfect way to spend a weekend -and get some experience painting en plein air with guidance from me.

Enjoy good food, great company and lots of fresh air and home comforts.

Mediums: Oils or acrylics paint. Drawing materials of your choice. You will need to supply your own materials. I will supply you with a list of what you need.Painting level: The course is suitable for all levels but please be aware that a basic level of drawing & painting techniques is needed.

Schedule for April Landscape Painting Weekend

You arrive on the Friday, from about 2pm. You’ll be greeted with some tea and scones at 4pm and we’ll then convene to do a bit of sketching in the grounds. Tea at 5.30pm.

The main day is Saturday. If the weather is fine, after breakfast, we’ll paint either at the bridge in Termonfeckin or in the grounds in the morning. Lunch at 1pm and then take a trip over to Clogher Head fishing harbour to paint the boats, weathewr permitting. They keep you very well fed at An Grianán! Tea at 5.30pm.

There’s a bar in the evenings.

On Sunday, after breakfast, we’ll paint in the morning up to lunchtime at 12.30pm. Then we have to vacate for around 3pm.

The kitchen is available at all times throughout your stay to make yourself a coffee.

*We have a classroom available to us to use at any time, so if the weather is too awful, we can paint there.

Please be aware that once you’ve book your place with me, you will need to call An Grianán directly on 00353 (0)41 982 2119 or email, using the button on the right, to book your room. An Grianán is not a hotel, it’s an association headquarters with accommodation; so not all rooms are ensuite. Book as early as possible. If you have special accommodation or dietary requirements, you can make them known there.
